Waiting for Rafters

by Darren
(Prince Albert, Sk)

I started building in june, and the house was ready for framing the first part of Aug. I had ordered the rafters in june, and was assurred there would be no problem in getting them. Due to unforseen circumstances, the framer, did not show up until the first week in sept.(by this time I had heard about delays in delivery, so i called again the second week in aug to see if there would be any problem in getting rafters I was again assurred there would not be. The framer was ready for the rafters by the second week in Sept, they were called and assurred me they would be ready next week, week after week went by, still no rafters. Every time I called they asurred me they would be ready, finally after 6 weeks I called the head office, and found out that my rafters had not been ordered. Let me tell you, I was completely shellshocked, I had been lied to week after week. After some conflict resolution, I got my rafters, in about a week.

If I was ever going to build again, the first thing I would do is prepay for my rafters and let them sit at the building lot until I am ready for them.
