In fact I broke one of the cardinal rules that I have told you time and again. Get all your bids in and compare them and choose the contractor that is right for you. I minimized the importance of getting the painting bids in and waited late in the game. I suggest you get all your bids as soon as you have a set of house plans.
What happened is I got so busy building our new home that choosing a painting contractor did not happen until late in the game. What is the big deal, just go to the contractor page and choose one when you need one right? Wrong! Planning is everything, you need the contractor ready to go when the house is ready to be painted. If you wait to late in guess what happens? All the good painters are working and have a couple of projects in the wings. You have to get in line, or choose somebody that is not busy. Not busy oftentimes means not really that good. I did find a good contractor to do my painting on the exterior of our new home. But where the problems started was the painter was not available to paint the interior because of another job that he had committed to earlier. Now that I have told you what I did wrong go and see what I learned about House Painting. House Painting / A Guide To Exterior Painting
